Mark's Top Wine Pick of the Week April 13, 2018 - 2016 Sweet Traminette - Domaine Berrien Cellars

Generic Sweet White Hock Bottle shot

Happy Friday the 13th!  Spring finally feels like it is here and this week's pick is the perfect wine for this time of year.  The "2016 Sweet Traminette" from Domaine Berrien Cellars is a sweet German-style wine and a Gold Medal Winner.  With orange blossom aromas and flavors of juicy nectarine and honey.  Beautiful golden color and a robust finish.  Always a popular choice when friends get together!

This wine was running low on quantity when we were at the winery and I usually like to pick up limited selection wines.  My wife and I made a stop at the winery along our Southwest Michigan wine trip about a week ago.  It was a very beautiful place.

Domaine Berrien Cellars is really cool with their vineyard on site, a huge patio, a store and tasting room.  The staff is extremely knowledgeable about their wine and very friendly.  Their wine selection is pretty diverse and you can find different wine than all of the wines you are normally familiar with.  You should try the winery's other selections out too.

You can find this wine in select wine shops, but I would ask if they could order it for you if they don't have it.  You can also order from the winery's website.  However, your best option will be to sample their wine in-house, at the winery's tasting room because then you know what you like before you buy a bottle.  The "2016 Sweet Traminette" is only $12 for a bottle, which is really reasonable for a gold medal winning wine.
